Ron Cephas Jones (Dr.
Copeland)
recently finished Gem of the Ocean on Broadway. He appeared
as Clarence opposite Peter Dinkledge’s Richard III at the
Public Theatre after playing the title role of Othello at
London’s Royal Theatre. He created the role of Rooftop in Our
Lady of 121st St for New York’s Labyrinth Theatre and
Off-Broadway at the Union Square Theatre. A nominee for the Lucille
Lortell Award for outstanding actor, Ron also created the role of
Lucius Jenkins in Jesus Hopped the A-Train for the Labyrinth
Theatre, and has played it at the Donmar and The Arts Theatre in
London. Additional theatre credits include the title role of
Othello at London’s Royal Theatre. The Exonerated at the
Culture Project, TeeVee in Black Codes from the Underground,
Silas in Holiday Heart at Manhattan Theatre Club and
Everybody’s Ruby at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre. Ron received
the Connecticut Critic’s Circle Award for Outstanding Performance by
an Actor in a Play for his riveting Marvell Thunder in Thunder
Knocking On The Door at Yale Rep and worked with Anna Deveare
Smith in House Arrest: First Edition. Ron won the Adelco Best
Actor Award for his performance at the Nuyorican Poet’s Café of
Don’t Explain. His film credits include Spike Lee’s “He’s Got
Game” and Woody Allen’s “Sweet and Low Down”. Independent film
credits include, “On the One”, “Little Senegal”, “A Day in Black and
White”, “Murder and Magic”, “Bachelor’s Club”, “Naked Acts”, and
“Real Men, Sex & Friendship”. TV credits include, “Law and Order”,
“NYPD Blue”, “Feds”, and “NY Undercover”. He has also been seen
recently in Don Johnson’s latest project, TNT network’s movie of the
week, “Word of Honor”.
